The Alber Lab

Butler Hospital Memory and Aging Program

Early detection of any disease leads to therapies. Over the last 10 years in Alzheimer’s disease research, there has been a shift to preventive medicine, to screening and catching it early. Jessica Alber investigates the potential to use retinal imaging as a screening tool for early-stage Alzheimer’s disease. Performed during a routine eye exam, the screening technique could help provide a low-cost, minimally invasive way to detect Alzheimer’s disease before symptoms appear.
